Well, let’s talk about this Monkey thing, ya know, the Chinese Zodiac. Not the real monkey, the ones jumpin’ around in trees, no, no. This here is somethin’ different.
What’s this Monkey all about?
So, they say 1776, that year was a Monkey year. Started ’round February, I think. These Chinese folks, they got twelve animals, see? And each year is a different one. This Monkey, it ain’t just any Monkey, sometimes it’s a Fire Monkey.

- Monkey Years: They say these years are Monkey years: 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016. And more to come, I reckon.
- Fire Monkey Years: Now, the Fire Monkey, that’s special. They say 1956, 2016, and even way out there in 2076, those are Fire Monkey years.
Fire Monkey, huh? What’s that like?
Now, a Fire Monkey, they’re somethin’ else. Real smart, they say. Like those Leo folks, ya know, the ones born under that sun sign. Always curious, always into somethin’. Full of energy, just like a fire, I guess. They got that fire in their belly, always wanna know more, always gotta be doin’ somethin’. They’re clever, too. Always thinkin’ fast, like they got ants in their pants.
What about gettin’ along with other folks?
These Monkey people, they’re charmin’, ya know? Lots of folks like ‘em. They get along real good with some, not so good with others.
Good matches, they say, are:
- Rat: Seems like these two just click.
- Dragon: Yeah, they understand each other pretty good.
- Snake: They’re both smart, I guess, so that makes sense.
Now, the ones that might cause some trouble:
- Horse: Maybe too different, ya know?
- Tiger: Too strong-willed, both of ‘em, I bet.
- Pig: Just don’t see eye to eye, I reckon.
So, what about the elements? Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal… What’s that all about?
Well, it ain’t just Monkey, see? There’s different kinds of Monkeys. There’s Wood Monkey, Fire Monkey, Earth Monkey, and Metal Monkey. Each one’s a little different. Like that Fire Monkey, all energetic and whatnot. The others got their own ways, too. But they all got that Monkey smarts, ya know?
This Chinese Zodiac thing, it goes way back, they say.

They been doin’ this for ages, lookin’ at the stars and the animals to figure things out. From 1900 all the way to 2031, and even before that, I guess. Every year, a different animal, different element. It’s kinda complicated, but it’s interestin’, ain’t it?
1776, the year of the Monkey.
So, back to 1776. That was a Monkey year, a Fire Monkey year they say started Feb 19th It makes you wonder, what were folks like back then? Were they all jumpy and smart like these Monkeys are supposed to be? Maybe they were, maybe they weren’t. But it’s somethin’ to think about, ain’t it?
So, there you have it. The Monkey, the Fire Monkey, and all that.
It ain’t easy to understand all this stuff, but it’s kinda fun to learn about. These Chinese folks, they got some old wisdom, ya know? And who knows, maybe there’s somethin’ to it. Maybe those animals really do tell us somethin’ about ourselves. Anyways, next time you see a Monkey, don’t just think about bananas, think about all this Zodiac stuff, too. It might just make you scratch your head and say, “Well, I’ll be…”
